Abstract

Digital transformation (DT) has become a key priority for organizations worldwide. In India, changing market conditions, new regulations, higher customer expectations, and new technologies have sped up DT adoption. This paper examines how Indian organizations approach digital transformation from both technological (such as technology stack, cloud, AI/ML, IoT) and managerial (leadership, culture, processes, strategy) perspectives, forming a “techno-managerial” view. Using secondary literature, industry reports, and case studies, the paper highlights common strategies, enablers, barriers, and best practices. The findings show that many large and mid-sized Indian firms have started their digital transformation, often with cloud migration, process automation, and data-driven decision-making. However, they still face major challenges, mainly skills gaps, old infrastructure, cybersecurity issues, and resistance to change. The paper offers a framework for building effective DT strategies in Indian organizations and gives practical advice for managers and policymakers.
